History of the RainSince he was nineteen Niall Williams has had many entanglements with both Yeats brothers. It began with a pocket-eared Selected Poems of WB and many sojourns sitting in front of the Jack B’s during his college years in Dublin. That entanglement has lasted forty years so far, with BBC radio 4 commissioning him to write a story inspired by Sailing to Byzantium last year.
It is fitting he will read from his novel History of the Rain as he began ‘Rain’ while writer-in-residence in Sligo Library and often gave a nod to the statue there at the corner of the street on his way to work.
